  Sister Parish

Our Lady of Lourdes, as well as being involved in many other activities, has a sister parish. Our sister parish is called Saint James the Apostle and is located in Guetemala. Collections for our sister parish are on the third weekend of each month. Below is some more information and pictures from our sister parish.

Letter and Pictures from Guatamala 9/1/2008

We hope that each one of you finds yourselves well at the work that day by day fulfills the destiny/well-being of our Church.

With respect to the latest help that you have sent to us, we are grateful everyday to our Creator for the great heart that you have and the kindness and mercy that you show us, your brothers and sisters in Christ. The truth is that the help has been received and we pray that Gob may bless you now and always. As you know, all of your help is used for necessary things for the parish and that which is basic for us.

The rosaries that you have sent us before... we have received and those that you sent us now we have not picked up because of the weather... it has not been possible. But we have received notification that they are in our country. But thanks be to Goc that we have used them (the first group) with the children who are preparing for their First Communion and with some couples that have been united in Marriage...so they also can pray the rosary to our Virgin Mary.

We found out through you that Mr. Len Saiber was near us but unfortunatly we could not meet with him as he did not arrive at our parish. The reason we do not know, but I believe that there were many visits and things for him to do in his visit to our country, but it makes us happy that he visited our homeland of Guatamala.

Thanks be to God that our Patron Festival in honor of the Apostle James was celebrated in the month of July. It was very happy and solemn. Our bishop of the diocese was with us Jalapa Monsignor Julio Edgar Cabrara Ovalle and we participated very well in it, having so many activities for those dates. As Monsignor visited some communities that here in the parish, are beginning to be born into faith and they need much support as much spiritual as economic. They do not even have a chapel built but only a gallery with a wall of sheet metal. This was how Mosignor finished his visit to our parish church.

We are getting together some photos of the activities of the Patron Festival, hoping that you like them. We are grateful for your support that you always give and we hope to communicate very soon with you. The God the Creator of all may give you abundant blessings on each of you and on each one of the families of your Christian community. We will be praying for you that Jesus will enlighten and guide you always.

Attentively,
P. Leonardo Antonio Najera Gomez
Parish Priest

Letter from Guatamala 6/25/2008

We are writing you to check if your have received the letter that we send you before, and to see if there is any other question or info that you would like to know about our activities and us. Also we are writing you to ask you, if this is possible, for 500 Rosaries additional to the 1000 that we already ask you in our past letter.

We want to thank you again for all the support that you and the Catholic community have been sharing with us, and we hope to continue the communication with both communities. Many thank also for reading this letter.

Hope to hear from you soon and may God bless you all

Sincerely,

Fr. Leonardo Nájera G.
